Long Island Sweet Shop Burglarized, Cash Stolen In Break-In

A Long Island sweet shop was hit by a burglar who made off with cash, leaving the popular business with unexpected losses.

Officers were called to Star Confectionary in Riverhead on East Main Street on Tuesday, Nov. 12, after the owner discovered the break-in around 7:55 a.m.

Initially, it appeared that nothing was missing, but the owner later found that assorted US currency had been taken, Riverhead Police said.

Detectives believe the break-in happened between 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
